Let me ask you this, would you show up on an interview with a stain on your shirt? Or in jeans that have been torn? How about your gym clothes, would that make a good first impression if your were interviewing to become an executive? And not an executive of a health club or gym. I bring this up today as I leave for the office in sneakers, jeans and my favorite ZOOEY t-shirt that reads: PEACE.
Today I am comfortable. I look presentable, and if by chance I was in the elevator with an executive,or a director, or a photographer, or an agent… my jeans are clean, my sneakers are clean and on top of my PEACE t-shirt I wear a black blazer and cashmere scarf. This is considered to be professional in today’s terms. My point is: what I’m wearing should be able to get me a job anywhere, anytime, I should never be looked at as a bum, or someone who doesn’t care about her appearance. I am in the business, I hate to say it but of, LOOKING GOOD. Being a Model matters. This is an industry (fashion, commercial, film) where it matters if my hair is brushed, my nails are manicured, my clothes pressed, my skin kept fresh. If you don’t want to have this as a part of your life then you may want to consider another profession and endeavor. When showing up on a photo shoot, on location, for your friend’s birthday, and at your agency, you better be looking GOOD! Not only will it help you feel like a super star it just might get you noticed…
